Marks Gearmaster low range gears

has anyone tried these gear sets, ive got a bundera and im looking at gettting the underdrive type to make up for 35" tyres

I have the 68% lower gears in the 40 and they are sweet

Revs a little easier in high range BUT low range is where it comes into its own

Maybe not the ones for you though if you are trying to gain a few revs in high range to compensate for the bigger treads. Or maybe you could get these and do your diffs at the same time, maybe some 4.88s or 5.29s. Now that would be the best of both worlds - Nice onroad and looooow offroad

why not change the diff ratios ??

Also i dont think you can get marks overdrive gears to suit a bunderra

I've got a set in my 78 series with 35"s and they are worth every penny. Couldn't buy higher ratio ring & pinions to fit my diffs though.

i wish had got the 68% reduction set instead of the 58% with the 8%overdrive
thats in a bj42 runnin a 3b with a 5 speed in it ,on 33 it just makes the gears a little to tall for the power of the motor

I have their 1.08/3.08 gearset in my 40. The old style with roller bearings on the idler whines loudly especially at speed. I was told the new style with tapered bearings are much quieter.

Their gears should fit into the Bundy transfer, but has anyone tried to put a 34 teeth input gear instead of the stock 32 teeth? This should give a 6.25% underdrive in high range whereas Marks underdrive gives you 8%.

What is the stock low range ratio on a Bundy transfer? I was told it is 2.48.

wtf? they have NEVER made 68%, 54% was the LOWEST they ever made, any other numbers were just made up. And in fact the 3.05 gears they are selling (3.05 low range ratio) they are still advertising as 55% when it is only a poofteenth over 54% so they are still fibbers, nust not as big of a fib as before.

They did so...your the fibber now But seriously they had 68% ones, because i have them and shorty did!

68% is impossible without cutting and welding the case. 3.05:1 is the lowest low they have ever made, and that is 54%. Marks are the fibbers - your gears are not 68%.

I've got the overdrive set, noisy on the road, but good for regaining the low range with 35's. 1st low is excellent for going down hill, but the 55% reduction (or 54 & a bit for dumbdunce) I find is a bit too slow for climbing most of the time, and I have to use 2nd.

Damian, I take it that you had the gears put in after you got the 35's? Are they that good, how much are they, and are they worth the price?

Damien, what engine you using to push your truck? i got a 73 with 3b turboed & 33"s but woried about having enough power, as tidy42 states he needs more ponnies, What do you guys think? My misses does tons of kays 800 a week so the overdrive would make her wallet happy & id be happy on the weekends with a decent low.
