steering dampener on toy conversion

This may already have been discussed, and if it has sorry for being lazy, but what happens with the steering dampener when doing the toy conversion as the dampener bolts to the rover centre and there is no provisions for this on the toy centre?

Yeah i have noticed this also and have not seen it posted anywhere either. Sure some one can help u out cos theres a few of u guys now running toys. So jealous so very very jealous! ;)

You will need to relocate it to the front steering arm as per a defender, brackets are available for this.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

I just finished the toyo conversion and moving the dampner, i got the kit from maxi drive, you need to upgrade to the heavy duty draglink and fit a defender dampner.

The pics are from a phone camera so the quality is ordinary

so do i have to change the dampener to suit? i've got a bilstien on at the moment and if i can re-use it that would be good.

i just finnished my toyota conversion, i got a high pinion front diff out of a bundera and i simply unbolted my old steering damper off the old diff centre and welded the bracket onto the toy one ...same setup as before but now its welded on strong...i havent taken it off road much so it hasnt been fully tested yet..but so far its fine
82 RR with 37" Swampers, toy centres and 4inch suspension lift / 2inch blocks

I might look into making a bracket that bolts around the diff so if i need to change the diff centre i can simply unbolt it and transfer it over to the next one, welding would be easier but not interchangable.

If the defender and rangie dampers both have the same amount of travel then you could. I don't know though, I only have defender ones.

The defender damper is longer and has an eye one end so it can pivot with the draglink.

Having the dampener on the drag link will save you $$ in the long run anyway.
On the track rod it will always get damaged.
Pick up an OME dampener for a Defender and a Maxi-Drive bracket kit and you'll never have to think about it again.

The series damper is in the same place as a defender, but has a pin both ends. So if the rangie one is long enough it would work fine if the bushes are flwxible enough (but a defender one would be better).
