Zook Ute Storage - sharing my ideas
Zook Ute Storage - sharing my ideas
Hi peoples,
I'm in the process of finalising materials needed to do a ute conversion of my zpook. no, not chopping completely, rather boarding in the back to make it look similar to a style side.
Here's a pic of what I plan on making over the next few days. It will be stained in a nice american redwood colour. The inner box will have a layer of glass resin over it. vertually turning it into a good eski - for when it's just a day trip or weekend piss up and not requiring shit loads of recovery/camping equipment.
anywho, I'll post pics once it's made, but for know here's my spec.

Progress update.
ok I've got the lid made. wraps flush around all the grooves in the targa bar. the rear corners are flush also.
not bad for 1hrs work. I love wood. so much easier to work with than metal. :flipOff:
so far it's fitting tighter than a nuns wahoo....which is good. now I have to figure out how far I want it to come into the cab, make up some bracing for where it will hinge then fab up the speaker board.
once I've done all that it'll be time to get the router out, do the edging, stain it and give it a good lick with marine grass high gloss sealer.
taking shiate loads of pics of how I fabbed everything and will post them tomorrow.

around 20kg. give or take 5kg.
keeping it light, but the added weight in the rear should make it ride a little smoother on-road.

G'day Tiger,
Hopefully the gawd dang rain will hold out this weekend where I am. I wanna get the rest of it done. so, if it's fine weather (or some a-hole clears the workshop so I can use it) I will have some more pics next week for ya'll.

I know that this thread hasn't been looked at in quite a while, but has anyone else had trouble trying to access the link that skippy put up to access the pics of his 'ute'?
http://www.mark-mccarthy.com/
It doesn't seem to work for me?!?
Am interested in seeing the results of this conversion as i also read about it somewhere else.
Thanks for reading... let me know if there is somewhere to view these pics.

If you look up a bit, you'll see that skippy, the person who originated the post, actually posted the exact same link...
There is also a thread on the following page

about the same topic, with the same 'mark mccarthy' link. Thanks guys.
but yeah, I agree, there would be a heap of Mark Mccarthy's out there. Is anyone else not able to open that link?ok, still not made any progress as I've been far to busy with work, teaching and djing.
