I've got one in the front and it rocks! Only a slight difference in steering feel when in 4WD. Turning circle hasn't altered that much. Doesn't change 2WD feel at all. It eats an air locker because its always there.
Weekdays - Prado GXL D4D with some stuff
Weekends - Mav shorty with lots of stuff

Depends on your vehcile but for a patrol there's no point as the LSD works well

Couldn't be happier with mine. Bit noisy, and you get some weird looks but they really help climb alot more.

I got one in the front of my fj40 & its great until you go on really soft beach sand, then the inside tyre just digs a hole when your going slow, instead of letting you turn.

ive run a 4wd systems lokka for a while now ...and of course the only reason i took it was the price to get a locker in my car.

so after about 2 years it still works great and i run with a mate and he has arb - we both go the same places !

I had a 4wd systems lokker and it destroyed the rear diff in my old 62series.After it happened everyone told me that its common for them to do that.Worked great till it locked up on the main rd.

richmond do the lockright and the powertrax lockers. the power trax is a different spline system and has very little back lash due to small trollerences and a small fine spline type teeth

I am yet to confirm if he powertrax system is available for patol, but are available for most toyo. they way I am doing them is $1200.00 exchange centre, but wont market them mainstream until I get the patrol answer.

most auto lockers are made for rear applications, and the only applicaions where they dont recoment front use is in full time 4wd vehicles. this is direct from the manafacturer.

aslo you patrol question, a rear will not do as mush as one in the front, but while the rear LSD is good it is still not a lockled diff and will unload itself between wheels and will still divert most power to the wheel with the least traction

Between my Detroit locker equpied Daihatsu Rocky and my Toyota Hilux with a LockRite, my Hilux is heaps quite and far more predictable.

had one in the back of mine. broke 3 rear axles. i think this was mainly caused by the shockloads placed on the axle when it'd engage halfway around the corner on the road. when i pulled the broken axle out, the opposite side always had twisted splines (twisted, as in 1/8 of a turn, no some tiny twist)

i think a welded would be kinder on rear axles in a DD then a lockright

But welded sucks ass on road. I regret welding the back of mine.

This is where most people get it wrong with auto lockers. They actually unlock going around corners.

i think antt was refering to the situation if you give your car a boot load (around a corner) and cause wheelspin ..then the lokka will engage (but this time at speed) and cause greater strain on the whole drive line back there.

sometimes its unavoidable to have to touch the throttle halfway around a corner. 99% of the time it was fine, and it'd stay unlocked in corners, but when it did engage, it did it with a BANG.

just relating my experience with them, and the problems that it caused me
