What are your thoughts? first 4b

Post by jigga »

hi,

i have my eye on an xj jeep. I only need a touring rig to get me out of the city camping... only on a budget. i am aware that gq's etc, may be more capable rigs, but i dont this i need one. from the research i have done, you can pick up an xj pretty cheap (under $15000) with low km's. This is my budget. what would be your opinion on first rig? i also thought of getting an Mu.

The XJ is a fine little rig - and just as capable as a GQ......
If possible try and get the Sept 97 onwards modle as it's got a few nice improvements ;)
Oh yeah we have an XJ as our daily driver & weekend worker - it's a top litttle rig.....

Sound like us .. jigga have you weighed up price of fuel, etc .. jeeps are pretty exy on parts and you can buy a good gq from 5 - 10 grand easy to get parts and always can get on here for any secondhand parts .. but hey different strokes for different folks .. happy hunting.

i own a jeep and am very happy with it - getting parts is not a problem in the city.

depending on the type of travelling you are interested in doing getting jeep parts to remote locations can prove difficult.

for the weekend camping and over night trips almost any four wheel drive is fine.

just a note jeeps use heaps of fuel...
