personally, i prefer my gears made from a metal compound. They seem to last longer. :)

As for the vn v6 engine, that quote seems pretty cheap for a drive in drive out conversion. Having said that, if it were me doing the conversion, i would be getting a later model commodore engine, like out of a vs or vt or even later if possible. The ecotec engines are smoother, quieter, more powerful and more refined. Im not sure about the legalities of putting a motor in the vehicle that is older than the current setup (pollution requirements). I think you would be disappointed with a vn donk.

You said you have a sr5, if this is the case then you will have IFS which means you will have the chain driven t case which means you can not put crawler gears in it. The only way you can do it is to change to a gear driven t case.

A VN V6 in a 97 hilux, I`d be saving the $3500 for something else

Not necessarily! My lux is a 97 SR5 IFS Extra cab and it has a gear drive case and manual hubs from factory :D

Are you 100% certain it has a gear driven case. Man hubs came out on ifs lux's but as fair as I know gear driven t cases didn't.

The VN's have a injection problem when they get hot, saw this on roc70y's old hilux.

how bout a supercharged VR/VS 6...

Is your model IFS or SA front...?

edit - just read your sig...

save the $3500 for an SAS and get gear driven case/marks gears...
