MQ Rear Bearings...
MQ Rear Bearings...
Hey all... The bearings in the rear of my SWB MQ have a fair bit of play when lifted off the ground. Ive flattened the locking ring but i cant tighten up the nut anymore. Any suggestions? Is it the same setup as the GQ?

no the bearing free play is adjusted by removing or adding the shims.
Simple as that.

I think i will need a lot of shims... It has about 3-4 mm movement each side.

With that much freeplay it may well be time for som new wheel bearings !
other than that its a case of REMOVING shims rather than adding more, the shims are located between the bearing retaining plate and the brake backing plate, by removing them this moves the axle in towards the diff centre thus reducing the freeplay.
adding more shims will push the axle further away from the diff centre which equals more wheel bearing slop.

I bought these diffs from a member of this board and have had nothing but problems with them. Just checked the front bearings today and they are just as bad as the rear, but i have redone them.
