compressor switch????
recently i fitted an air con pump to run as a compresser, it feeds a tank under vehicle and works great. does anyone know what sort of switch i can run so that it switches itself off and on?
At the moment i am just using a toggle switch and 150lb preasure release valve which is great for scaring crap out of people but thats about it.
also would switch be better in tank or up at pump. Cheers

i havent fitted mine yet or givin much thought to it, but was thinking of running two pressure switches. One to turn clutch on when pressure was low and another to turn clutch off at the high point. Also master off switch.
You could probably use one pressure switch, but i would worry about low dwell periods, ie clutch comming off and on too frequantly.

the best way to get all the stuff you need is to buy a super cheap or simillar 240v compressor for $99. a mate put his name down and ended up getting one with a dud motor for $35 from sc. you get safty valves, tank, gauges some have switches etc

I bought a brand new pressure switch for a 240 compressor - about $20 from QLD tradetools. The switch doesn't mind if it switches 240V or 12V, and is adjustable on and off pressures - i.e. stops at 120psi, starts again at 80psi, or whatever you want...
