GU auto hubs

Post by gut42 »

ive been having trouble unlocking my auto hubs after 4wding lately. After unlocking the hubs manually disengaging 4wd and reversing back (up to 10m) soon as i drive forward they click back in again, reverse again and the same thing happens. Does anybody know if you can take the auto out of the auto hubs and how to do it? :)

I had one at work last week doing the same thing. It had broken the 2 tags that hold the hub togther. This car does no hard 4WDing.

im not a fan of manual hubs for the reason that some ah locked one in on my last truck when it was parked at work, where as you need a wheel brace to lock in the auto hubs hence the reason i want to modify the ones i got.

It won't do any damage if your hubs are locked in by some passer-by, provided you are in 2wd, no damage will occur. Just check 'em periodically.

I changed to manual hubs for the same reason you give.

Don't go the AVM ones though, I bought them and I wish I hadn't, very flimsy. Go factory Nissan ones, prob get some from a wrecker for cheap too.
