Shackles and shockers

Post by Pommie B*stard »

Hi guys,

This has probably been done to death (sorry) but I am getting some longer shackles made up, 50mm longer between bolt holes to give a mild
lift of 20 - 25mm. The front will be wound up to match so I can fit 235/75s.
my question is, will I get away with keeping the standard adjustable shocks?
It's a 1996 Sportrak ELXi, aka narrow track F300.

PS - will I have to bend the front mudflap brackets back a bit?

Cheers,

Jon.

Hmm yes, a link to the search page, just what I needed smart arse. :x

OK, I'll re-phrase it. AFTER trawling the faq and doing a search
I can't find a straight answer to these questions:
How long can you go with extended rear shackles on a narrow track Feroza before you need to fit longer shocks?
I'm going for about 50mm longer would this be ok with standard shocks?

50mm extra is fine with standard shocks.
not sure of the limit due to shocks but any more then 50mm and you will start to bind the uni of the driveshart...vibrations/shudders..

IIRC there were different length factory shocks (just to confuse the matter!) I read somewhere early models were "topping out" the standard length rear shocks causing failures, so longer ones were fitted?
