Spray painting a car?

Hi guys,

Just looking for some answers to my questions.

I want to respray my car in either a flat colour or in 2pak.

Which type of paint is longer lasting and more scratch resistant?

Which one is easier to spray?

Which type is more forgiving interms of showing up blemishes and dents in the body work ?

I've tried search the web but there really isn't a site that compares these types of paint.

2K is the pick of the paints for durability it will last longer and is more scratch resistant, but it is harder to spray and touch up if you don't know how to

acylic on the other hand is easy to spray will look great with a cut and buff is easy to touch up and will last years if you look after it, and will be cheaper

as for showing up blemishes/dents neither is very forgiving if it is finished well (shiny), the only way to make them look good is to fix them. Lighter colours (white yellow etc) will make dents harder to see then dark colours (black, dark blue etc)

If its a home job, go acrylic

Go poly U, easy to use, cheap ,more scratch resistant than laquer , only downfall is , only available in solid colours.

2k is more scratch resistant, resists fuel stains etc

personally i wouldn't use poly U in the backyard pretty similair to 2k, but if you want to use it and want a metallic colour you can use 2k basecoat and poly U clear in most cases this would be fine, AFAIK anyway (i've done it a few times and haven't had any probs)

I live on a cattle station so neighbours aren't a prob

slow dry times, it would be ok if you could keep the dust and crap away from it but that would be difficult in an unsealled enviroment, thats the only reason same reason for using 2k outside.

if your not worried about dust/crap in your job then don't waste your money on a decent paint just use enamel it'll bury heaps of dodgy stuff but will have to be redone on a regular basis, but at about $30 for 4ltr it's as cheap as, just doesn't look that crash hot.
