Importing jap TD42T from a Safari

Post by Mark2 »

Have been thinking about importing a complete TD4.2T engine with turbo from a jap Safari.
A couple of importers I've talked to seem to think they're fairly easy to come by in Japan, could land it here (probaly with a gearbox as well) for less than 2k. Thats cheaper than a turbo conversion only.

Any thoughts? I'm presuming it would be a bolt in to my GQ - I could probably sell my n/a TD42 for what the turbo import would cost. Sounds too good to be true?

This wouldnt be a major problem for an engine conversion? would only be a matter of swapping alternators and fuel solenoid??

You could also use the turbo and plumbing from the inport motor as parts to preform a turbo conversion on your motor, but I am currently turboing mine and have managed to sorce a turbo kit that would probobly end up costing not much more than buying the motor in. I am fitting it myself to keep the cost down.
