Roll Cages

Thinking of putting a cage into a gu trayback, and I am getting conflicting answers. I would like the cage to be internal only. That is no rear trailing braces out through the body. Is this legal for qld?

well my tip call " brown davis " they pretty much designed all the cams specs so call them & ask :D though brownie is a knob & not helpful at all so good luck :lol:

What events do you need thios cage for??? commonly on utes, a 4 point internal & a 4 point on ute tray

big red toy, slowly building up a comp vehicle for short course type events, maybe even have a bash at the outback challenge. The 4point front and then anotherfor the tray is pretty much what I was after while trying to keep it street legalish.

Its my understanding that on a single cab utility you can have a 4 point internal and 4 point external cage as long as they both meet the CCDA specs.

You can get the cage blue plated to make it legal for on road.

I had an external roll cage fiited to my Series 3 last year by Ray Curry from Fabraications,19 Citrus St. Braeside Ph. 95877772. He did an excellent job and is good to talk to. He does internal cages mainly for rally cars,race cars etc. and he is conversant of course with CAMS regulations.My vehicle was a special challenge with a special solution!

Can you give an idea on cost and was it 4 or 6 point cage?
Weekdays - Prado GXL D4D with some stuff
Weekends - Mav shorty with lots of stuff

You mean similar to attached pic,

class 8 off road racer, fully street legal and cams compliant in QLD.

Cab cage and tray hoop are not connected.

BTW this rig is for sale if your interested..

If you believe that the new National Code of Practice for Vehicle mods is going to apply in QLD then you might want to have a read of the section that covers roll cages.

just read the dotars pdf. 6 poimt cages not suitable...wtf. anyways tried phoning a couple of companies specialising in cage installation, among other things. Apparently I can get a blue plated(legal) cage installed into my cab chassis pretty much however I want.hmmm.. Well 3 out of 4 places said that ...so I guess I'll just go with the majority rule!!

dotars document is a work in progress, it's not law yet.

Current code of practice allows a 6 point cage though.

dotars document is a work in progress, it's not law yet.

Current code of practice allows a 6 point cage though.
This would also be a good reason to get your 6 point done NOW before the new code of practice comes in.
