Recovery Hook

Post by Jay D »

I wan't to bolt a recovery hook of some sort to the front of my zook, but need a few ideas of the best way to attack the job. Its a 92 sierra with 2" BL, 31's with 2" lifted springs. It also has a poxy alloy bullbar which seems to be in the way. Any suggestions???

Hook

Post by Pat Murray »

Bolt it sideways to the outside of the chassis rail. Use grade 8 bolts and fit heavy tube between the rails (around the bolts) to prevent the rail from collapsing as you tension the bolts. get a hook with a spring retainer on it that prevents the cable/rope from slipping off. Ideally fit a hook on each side of your truck.

I used one of the bar mount holes, drilled out to suit hook bolt, with a crush sleeve in the rail...the rear bolt has a plate behind it..a bit of trimming on the chassis rail was needed...there is a post with more details somewhere

Ha I was about to say bubs, that picture is as clear as hell! It was like one of those where's wally games.

Looks good on top, easy to get to if your a mud type person. Nothing worse then lying on the bonnet reaching over to find a hook deep in the mud.
