Hey Trendsetters, I've been dreaming up new plans for the next evolution of my Shrek 40. Let me know what u think, and of any problems I haven't thought of. I'm hoping to complete it all for around $6 to 7K.
I can buy an 80 series roll over wreck pretty cheap, then lift it with HD springs, shorten the chassis just enough to fit the wheels within the 40 bumpers (say 100" WB) Th NT engineers are cool with all this as long as I use an accredited welder). Then fit 38" Mudders, the rancho's from my 40, and the custom winch bar and rear bar from the 40. Then use a 2" body lift and mount the 40 body and roll cage, use the 40 steer column coupled to the 80 power steer box. Keep the 80 5 speed and tx case, diffs n brakes etc. Then buy a Lexus front cut, use a petrol 80 series bellhousing and mate the 1uzfe to the 5 speed. I've been assured by the local wrecker that the 100 series 5 speed is identical in the front to the 80 series, as long as I use the petrol 5 speed bell housing and input shaft I should be OK. Anyone know for sure?
If anyone has any info on 1uzfe conversions to 80 series 5 speeds, or even the Lexus 4 speed auto that comes with the 1uzfe, mated to an 80 (or any) cruiser transfer case, please let me know.
This should give me a very tuff and comfy riding 40 with smooth economical power. Whaddayareckon?

The lexus auto has its own computer and by all accounts is a prick to set up. The manual would probably be the easier (cheaper) way to go.
You will also have to mod your F&R bars as I think the 80 series chassis wider than the 40 one.

ive asked the engineer on this in regards to a 100 series chassi and all the adr rulles must comply to the chassi year mod ie seat belts n the rest etc etc
otherwise im planning doing a 100 series diff swap into the 40 and extending the wheelbase, i have the shit all there just need to pull my finger out n do it

thats a great thread, love your work! Decisions decisions, I'm considering a rhino buggies hammer (hummer replica) on the GQ chassis, as Shrek is so impractical for a lil family, and so stinkin hot in Katherine. But 40's are so cool! What's a bling '81 BJ40 with 3b, 4 speed and discs, all the bling bar work and winch, 35's, race seats etc. worth guys? I have no idea as most built 40's worth the big bucks have v8s.

I don't know enough to comment on the difference between 80 and 100 series, but an 80 series wreck with good driveble chassis should be about $2500 to $5000, depending on age, mileage, turbo etc.
