after a bit of assistance from lpg gurus, the converter has been sitting idle for a couple of years and on reinstallation when started up it blows out white powder/smoke is there major problems with it or does it just need a good service. :? :? :? :?

out of the exhaust??

the converter just turns the liquid to a gas, it should not impact the color of your exhaust.

If upir talking about the pipe that leads to the mixer, well then yes it shoudl be a white gaseous substance :)

What converter is it ?

I would really have to say you should strip it down and put diaphrams(s) and O-rings in it, make your life easier and give you better economy. Most converters can be rebuilt like this for minimal cost, last landi converter I did cost less than $40 in gaskets and diaphrams.
