Hi

Can anyone help with identifying the location of the smoke adjustment screw on this Isuzu 2.8 td pump please? On the Landrover TDi engines it is located under a small cap in the centre of the cover on top of the pump but as you can see from the picture the cap is not fitted on this particular cover. Many thanks

pretty much the same VE pump as used on 2,8TD Nissan GQ.

Just loosen four 6mm bolts and remove the cover on top. Maybe you have to loosen a 6mm bolt on the side of the housing as well.

Lift up the whole boost compensator assembly, at the bottom you can see a starwheel. In order to get more fuel from down low, just turn the starwheel clockwise. By doing this, you decrease the spring tension.

Less boost to deliver fuel.

Note.

The boost comp. piston has a deep and a shallow side in the bottom. Deep side towards the front of the truck = more fuel, from idle and up in the rev range.

You can often see a mark on either deep or shallow side. depends on how it has been set up.

Turned the boost compensator 120 degrees clockwise and the star wheel 270 clockwise. Low down response seems a bit better with just a trace of dark smoke on heavy acceleration. I'm going to fit the intercooler next and see how things improve. Thanks for the advice.
