Right side snorkel and a 1.6 16v?

Post by mooks100 »

Hi.
My Sierra is currently having an vitara 1.6 16v put in however my snorkel is on the opposite side to the new air intake. What should I do. I could try and run some flexy pipe accross the engine bay to the snorkel but I'm concerned that the engine will struggle to suck air in through such a long straw. Anyone elso done this? Does it make much of a difference havng it on the opposite side? Does anyone make a plastic snorkel that fits the left side of a Sierra?

Thanks

There's no off the shelf LHS snork for a Sierra, that I know of.

I have a 16v too and used to have a snorkel on it, it was a custom job. Get some 2.5" mandrel bends and some exhaust tube and make one up. Most snork heads are 3" though so take it into an exhaust shop and have them swage out the end to 3".

I've got a custom mandrell bent stainless steel unit with Airflo ram head on mine. Looks and works great.

Maybe I can get Squik to take some pics and post if you need.
