yes i have done a search but it didnt help. How do u hook up spotlights the legal way ie when u turn on high beam the spoties come on to but when parking lights are on spoties are off. ATM i have them running of an on off switch and am sick of forgetting to turn them off on the road untill a f*&k off big truck turns on his lights to remind me

i think sierra's are the same as vitaras. anyway, my vits' headlights are negative switched, meaning the positive wire (usually red) always has a current, and the light is switched on when the ground wire (usually black) is grounded.
i cant exactly remember how i wired mine, but i think i hooked the trigger wire up to the ground, and using a relay (i dont know what type, like a switch over one or something) and the dash switch to turn the spotties on. the trigger wire flicks the relay, and the power comes from the battery.
man, i suck at trying to explain this. maybe someone else can help out. maybe search the electrical section too.
sorry, tried my best.

This is actually quite easy to do. Find the Relay and there should be 2 pins on there which actuate the switch in the relay (generally labled 85 and 86). You must find the 2 wires from the back of the headlight which are the highbeam (+) wire and the earth (-) run them from the headlight to the 85 and 86 pins on the relay.( Here you must cut the + wire and run a switch off it to be able to disable the use of the spotties even when highbeams are used. There is a pin on the relay normally labled (30) that is your load wire so run that from your battery to your relay (make sure to put a fuse in line with that wire). Then finally there should be 1 or 2 pins labeled as 87 this is where the + wire from both your spotties connects to the relay. There should also be a negative wire from the spotties which can just be connected to any good earth on the 4wd. This should help you I hope luckly for you I had a Narva relay kicking around on the computer desk (dont ask me why)

I put a relay for my spotlights off my main headlights highbeam wire and they work fine that way, but u may need a relay.. i tried with out one and it didnt work, so then i put a relay in and it worked.
Also i put in another circuit just of the battery like u have done atm, so u can choose to turn them on/off yourself or to come on with highbeam with the other circuit. You should also put another switch in if u dont want them to come on with highbeam, this is useful sometimes..

I've wired up plenty of spotties in the past but this is giving me major greif. I have just bought some Narva spotties and thought with a nice sunny Saturday arvo I'll put them in. I have wired them up as per instructions (sort of) but they come on with high beam (good), off with low beam (good) but come on again when lights are off (v.bad). When all lights are off there is power to all three wires going into the back of the headlight. What do I do??????

Hookers are like bowling balls, You pick them up, put your fingers in them, then throw them in the gutter and they come back for more.
Re: spotlights
Dude, what did you search for? Not trying to be a c*nt but I did a search & the first post that came up is the one 84zooksta posted up.muf-247 wrote:yes i have done a search but it didnt help
I know I was a search nazi in that other thread so I thought I would take this opportunity to be constructive rather than just be an ass. Let us help out if you are having problems with search.
No worries Damo, I did a search for spotties+ wiring up. This thread seemed to give the most promise. Also I have country dial up so time can be an issue. As it turned out I have printed some wiring diagrams off and lights are go.
