FJ40 4spd rebuild

Post by superg »

Hi guys i have taken out the 4spd and transfer case on my FJ40. I was just wondering what are the main things I should be changing on the trans and transfer case before I put them back in?

the 4 speeds a great box when youre pulling it down just check the face of the teeth and make sure there not to sharp if they are get a reco's one because the gears are expensive and if theyre sharp theyll make shitloads of noise

There is no noise coming from the gearbox now, I was mainly thinking along the lines of any seals and stuff. i know there was some oil leaking from near the handbrake so im guessing there is some sort of seal there and ive also heard there is somethnig that you have to change so the oil can go back and forth between the gearbox and transfer case so it doesnt all stay in one of the 2, is this right?
