60 series spring seats

A mate has a 60 series cruiser. It has good drive line, body but he gets caught up on his fischplates going thru bogs, he's running 36" simex and still cant get thru were i go in my gq with 35 baja's. He is thinking of swapping running gear / body ect. onto an 80 series chassis. Is this a major job? Is there any other options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry its what my mate calls the plates under the leaf spring that the shocker bolts onto. whats the proper name?

no lockers, no springover. i think it is the u bolts but not sure i will ask him exactly what he thinks the problem is

in the '' original '' toyota workshop manual its called a ''spring seat ''

as for getin caught up on it ive never had that prob n only runnin 33 on a 40

tell him to trim the bolts down to just below the nuts, and dont waste his $$ on a swap or nething just put a locker in the rear and he will outwheel you ne day

Make up new bottom plates that lift the nuts out of the way.

you could do a U-bolt flip

this would solve his problem but i very much doubt its getting that caught up on them.

So Stu, what you're really try'n to say is you know how to drive then!!! hahaha, NOT!!! :finger:

Nah, 60's weigh a ton mate..... put em near mud and they're guaranteed to sink!!! I found it's only on rocks that seem to be a bit of a prob for those u-bolt plates.
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!

ive caught them up on a few things... 31's was the problem then grind/cut them shorter if its still an issue with bigger tyres

then lock it :)
