supercharged sierra 1.6
supercharged sierra 1.6
anyone supercharged their vitara 1.6 engine. did a search and did not really come p with any good info. do not want a kit, just the charger and do the rest myself
the mud4b used to have this setup till it blew up the s/c, this was a result of running to much psi but if u run low psi like 7 or 8 would work wellshunta wrote:I hear you can get subaru super charges from jap import places that bolt onto air con bracket don't no if its true or not have not seen it done
89 lux 2bl 4inch spring 35's etc still slow as a snail

I am thinking about putting a charger on mine . As it is a mpi so should handle the fuel okay. running on 5-7 psi should allow longivitey in the engine and still plenty of go. Getting the charger from a 4age, from toyota forum cost about 200 to 250. Then a bit on piping, and wiring it all up. As they have an electric clutch so you can turn it on and off hehehe ( mad max style).
Use the mount on the left of the block , where the aircon normaly lives, charger in there. pipe it all up, and see how that goes. will chew more fuel but if you dont want the power you could turn it off.
fitting should be less then a day if you have everything ready to go.
And yeah , ask mark at suziworx he is the man in the know.

from what i understand , it is smart enough. it can compersate for as long as boost is low.

the setup i had was on a 1.3 with spi. it would run up to 10 psi before it started running like crap. then i swapped out the 1.3 throttle body for a
1.6 throttle body and ran 20psi (it did peak at 22 psi) untill it stripped the teflon from the fins of the charger.. it was fun..
that was the subaru charger i used, mounted onto the ps bracket then onto a 2lt four flipped ac bracket ontop of that.
i would go the toyota sc if your going to run higher boost.
the mpi ecm will not handle boost over 10 psi very well at all without major mods or better yet swapping it out for a a/m puter.

hmm well you could go get it off ebay (can be a bit pricey ) , but i am thinking about getting it from http://www.toymods.org.au look there in the forums, in the engine section , and they have em there.
I am trying to find out what size pulley i need on the sc12 to get it turning 5 and 7 pound boost. As with the 1.6 i already have a spare pulley on the front. Any one know a link?
Also trying to sort out a airfilter at moment i have a pod, and thinking about setting it up with that. Ideas.

when i get round to it i thick i am going to run a "roots" type s/c with about 5psi boost (ie. do not need intercooler) and run it all the time. think it may be a pain to work out efi if i run a clutch sc with and on/off switch. i will run in through the snorkle intake and hopefully thru a unifilter. still looking at an eaton45, but not sure of its specs. no idea how much the manifolds are. sc are cheap from the uk, straight out of a mini cooper s.
