WINDOW TINTING - DIY ?
Is there such a thing as good quality tinting film for diy ?
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
Ok, so while at lunch there was a tint professor stand at the local westfieled, they quoted $295 for full darkest tint for all glass bar the front with an unconditional lifetime warranty, sounds good but who has had theirs done for less / better quality?

By "bar the front" I assume you mean windscreen. If so sounds like abloody good price to me. I have previously used another firm on Maroondah Hwy Mitcham (cant recall their name) but they have been more expensive than that and that was for my car....Loanrangie wrote:Ok, so while at lunch there was a tint professor stand at the local westfieled, they quoted $295 for full darkest tint for all glass bar the front with an unconditional lifetime warranty, sounds good but who has had theirs done for less / better quality?
Warn - Dont leave home without it
Well, I got a trade quote for an Alfa Romeo coupe (early 80's model) and that was about $180. Theres a lot more glass in a Range Rover, so $295 isn't bad at all. Theres a lot of guys doing it though, so do some checking - make sure its got a long warranty though, cause the job should then be done to a much more exacting standard if they don't want to have to replace it on their own bill.
84 Rangie, 3 inch spring lift, 2 inch body, Megasquirted 4.6, R380, rear Maxi, 34x11.5 JT2s. Simex FM installed.
I remember years ago getting quotes of about $450 for the rangie so $295 dosent sound bad, it includes darker tint on the tailgate and adjacent windows to act as a security measure for the cargo area. Lunchtime tomorrow will be spent doing a ring around for other quotes.

good work you will be really happy with the result.Loanrangie wrote:Getting done today, $295 payable by 4 monthly payments, pickup my rangie and return by 4pm all done !
It cost me just on $300 about 4 months ago and I am really happy with the result - I looked at DIY but the material cost was about $120 from memory and I knew if I stuffed it I just couldn't handle it and would have to get someone to fix it - in the end it became one of the simplest jobs I had to do - wallet job (just open your wallet and its done )
