Hi guys, this is starting to freak me out.
1999 4.0 RR. It was running rough, until I pulled the connector on MAF sensor, seemed to idle and rev smoothly (in driveway)
So I order a new sensor, then went to work on installing new stezza while waiting.
The vehicle sat for about 18 hours with neg lead off battery.
Once new MAF arrived and installed, connected battery back up, now it won't even turn over, no 'clicking' from starter solenoid either.
My remote is locking and unlocking car (synchronised)
I checked all relevant fuses and relays.
I double checked neg lead.
I'm thinking the starter solenoid - but why would it conk out now? Unlucky? I suppose I need to crawl under car with test light while someone else turns key? Is that the best test?
Another weird thing I don't understand. The starter motor relay (in fuse box) has current running to 2 connectors - not just for the switching function but also for activator solenoid as well - this is with key out of ignition switch or on any of the 3 key positions. Is that normal? Why have a relay if it is normal?
Any help appreciated,
Hardy
EDIT - FIXED. I am a git.
In order to pull old stereo wiring out, I left the gear stick in R - to make room for gear shift surround on centre console.
I had the RAVE ETM pages all printed out, fusebox and it's connectors everywhere running the tests...
Far out - only because it was night time reaching in drivers window to turn key I noticed luminence in passenger rearview cutting out when I turned the key - what the? Reverse lights? Oh.
Doing 2 seperate jobs - MAF & stereo are now unexpectedly intertwined...
