Found this on ebay, i recon it would have some pretty strong diffs in it poss dana 60s. Anyone know anything about them?

If it's anything like the 1300 series Inter fire trucks i used to fix, you can't get parts for them. The front diff was a modified 44 - basically a rear diff with steering knuckles welded on, and was built in Australia for a very limited period.
They were however set up with a 392 V8 and an Allison 6 speed auto. the diff ratios were 4.88:1. and no power steering.

I don't see why that would matter? If I was going to build/install a D60 I would fit alloy axles anyway. And with some of these new style ujs without bearings you could fill the closed knuckle full of grease or thin oil and the UJs should last a long time.

All the US rigs running these would be open-knuckle. You are just supposed to grease them regularly (they are meant for part-time or off-road only). But if they were continually running in oil I dont see why they wouldn't last.
Edit - longfields have a 300m cross and 4340 caps without bushes or bearings.
CTMs have bronze bushes in the caps. But both would be expected to wear faster than UJs with bearings.

Yep, plenty of them. You can get a pair (steer and non steer) of 404s for under e300 ($500 AUD). The only problem is you need to buy a whole mog to get them for that price. You can strip the mog of the axles and then get a scrap metal place to cart it away, but unless it is completely oil, grease and fuel free, you have to pay cleaning/recycling costs.andrew e wrote:why not go for those dana 60 cv's ? only 2600US You could buy a complete mog diff cheaper id think.
