right. now that i have finally gotten the extended shackles in and sorted out, i have found that i am going through bushes faster than i can buy em!
i searched but couldn't find anything on the orbit type bushes. can anyone tell me if they are any good, and how they affect the on road handling. Would they stop me chewing out bushes?
What does the qld DOT have to say about them as well(not that it really matters with the extended shackles in it.)

had orbital bushes in the fixed end of the springs in my old 75 and really I am not sure it was worth it.
Mine used to flex a heap and the orbital bushes used to have quite a bit of misalignment in em so that was good.
Problem was that they were a nylon race and these seemed to flog out.
If you were willing to put the effort in to replace them on a reasonably regular basis then maybe ok.
You have to find on orbital bush to fit inside the spring eye also which can be a prob.
I used really big ones from Calbah Engineering then got a Main leaf made up to suit.

just a deviation here, but could there be some slop/ issue with your springs/ suspension that could be causing them to be offcenter, and that's chewing the bushings out?rockcrawler31 wrote:yeah i know about them flexing better
it's just a little disturbing to see the shackles cant off to one side, and finding bit's of bushing on my driveway everynow and then
something like loose U Bolts, or a bent spring, or bad castor causing the diff to shimmy side to side?

to be honest, i wouldn't know to tell. but the springs are fairly good nick, as are all the rest of the gear associated with it. when i am at max ramp, i would estimate the shackle pin/spring eye angle to be about 20+ degrees, so there's a lot of compression and twisting that the bushes have to deal with.
