Post by okz00k »

The Tallarook CFA, with assistance from FWDV and CCDA, are organising the "Tallarook 4X4 Roundup" for 29 - 30 April 2006.

They are aiming for the World Record for 4WD's in one place, with all sorts of activities including:
  • Self Drive tracks,
    AWD test track,
    4WD Skills course,
    Trade exhibitions,
Tallarook Challenge Trophy winch challenge event
    Tallarook Rock Crawling Trophy event
The venue is 2km from Tallarook, just off the Hume Hwy, on Pyalong/Tallarook Rd at a recreation park known as Bruzzy Park.

The Tallarook Challenge Trophy.
Need to have at least 4 point roll bar and helmets. Great chance to try out your Challenge Truck from Vic Winch, Ateco and prep for OBC.
:D The Tallarook Rock Crawlers Trophy will be exciting with made made obstacles out of the dam.
 The self drive trcak managed by Central Highlnads 4WD Club will be 2-3km long with a water hole, obstacles and a sand pit.
;) Organisers are aiming for the biggest 4WD Round-up in the world!!

Camping. food outlets, bush band, rodeo, kids rides and much more for the whole family.

$165 ok you've lost me now

As to the world record, have they never heard of the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. There are literally thousands of 4wds there. Or even the Tierra Del Sol event

I have just spoken to the organizer Angela re the pricing....

First of all you have to realize that this is a tiny community that is struggling to raise money and a lot of the town people wear more than one hat.
When there are bush fires they take off and assist...in so doing they then loose out on their wages.
When the school needs something it's the parents who have to dig deep.

We as city folk take so much for granted.......so lets help out a little community and support their fund raiser.

$165 for a whole family, which includes as many kids as you like, is not much when you look at what is on offer. Singles they are looking at charging $90......for the weekend.

You cannot take your whole family to a footy game for that (I'm told).

There is going to be so much on apart from having a variety of self drive tracks ....... all sorts of entertainment....the list speaks for itself.

So come on, how about helping Tallarook out and supporting them and your fellow 4 wheel drivers from Tallarook, who have organised this event.

Angela also mentioned that they will more than likely be having a $45 day visit pass as well......so if you can't afford the weekend try to make it for the day only .....but do get in touch with them so they can have a rough idea of the numbers.
The muster will be held on Sat but could very well take place again on the Sun.

I hear and understand your plee Celia on TRallarook's behalf, but reckon if they were fair dinkum about this, they were better off making it cheaper and attracting more people rather than dearer and getting less. I don't think you get value for money at that price.
It will prolly be a good weekend but there are so many other events on that offer better value for money.

isnt this the thing/group that was 'planning' to block the city? or there was talk of this a while ago?

I agree with Jonesy, charge 1/2 and get more than double the people make more $.

unfortunately i can see the $165 dollar thing eliminating there chances of getting a record unless there isn't one already.

When it was said that it is good value for money it wasn't explained exactly what i was going to get for my money. I am thinking i get entry into the place, camping, and spectating. Is this correct?
And if so what sort of facilities are there for camping? Is there catering or is it all byo?
What do i get to watch?
Do i get to compete for this amount or are the comps extra?
