pede sidewalls

just a quick question on sidewall thickness
just brought a set of pedes and first trip out i sliced the side wall a couple of mm deep is it possible to have it repaired or should i not worry as the overall thickness will be okay.

Sidewalls on a centipede are 6ply thick, so a slice of about a couple of mm deep is not a major issue. Bear in mind, the longer the cut, the more likely a rupture could occur. I am unaware of anyone who would/could fix any sidewall pucture of a tire anyway due to legalities.

damn thought as much it is around 100mm long so lookslike a newy and this becomes the spare.

Ive had a couple of sidwalls repaired on my MTRs.
The local tyre place here sends them off somewhere and they vulcanise rubber onto the hole and grind it smooth.
One hole was big enough to need two plugs side by side in it to get me home.

when i had my brand new claws spiked out the front of my place took it to the local tyre place and they fixed it not problems, it was in the side wall but was a very small hole

. it can be done but more or less under the counter as has been said for legality reasons they should not be fixed, the guy at the shop said if i had a spare claw i should swap them just to be on the safe side, but said it shouldnt give out at all.

I have had this fixed by Newsomes in Rockhampton. Tyre was one day old.

that sux, i had one in a similar spot on my MTR's only a small one though and the stake wasn't still there i was at yalarra and they woudln't fix... were going to refuse to put the tyre back on rim too. had to explain you haven't fixed the puncture so no i can't still put air in it. well needless to say i fixed my first puncture at the caravan park that arvo. sweating my ass off lol. and chucked a tube in for good measure... easier to inflate of a normal compressor the oldman rekons.

well there is a question would i be bettre off puttingg a tube in would that help instead of tubless

here a a few picks of mine as you can see it is not much i am more worred that now on the highway on the way to tracks i might get a blow out.

it accualy looks worse when tyhe weight of thew car is on it.
ami just being pariniod or is this something to really worry about

While no expert, I really dont think you have anything to worry about there.

If you tube it, then at a later stage decide to air down for off roading, chances are the tube will creep inside the tyre, and rip the stem off completely, and then, flat tyre.

I agree it doesnt look enough to be worried about from those pics.
There is still a lot of meat behind those shallow cuts.

well yes it may be but i am more concerned about a blowout at 100 on the way to the tracks and 90% of the time i have my kids with me.

but i thought it was whimpy as well but just wanted to be carefull

If you track down a tyre retreading factory such as Bandag, Needa, South pacific tyres through beurepairs and so on. They have all the equipment to carry out serious repairs on tyres.
