I went to ARB yesterday and got some quotes thought that people might be interested. Sorry I didnt get a part number for shocks.
Front: Light duty, up to 35kg extra weight, $78 each CSO12GA/CB
Medium, 36-75kg extra weight $97 each CSO13GA/CB
Rear Medium (didn't get a weight rating) $107 each CS038R
Constant load(heavy) 100kg $129 each CSO39R

55mm higher over your old springs??? Just got a quote for the dakar springs and they reckon they are 40mm lift, probabily will lower a bit when the settle in. So wwhat the ride like? apparently my old springs had sagged about 15mm.
i haven't driven it yet! a friend picked it up for me as i am out of town at the moment so i'll post when i have driven it.
I figured the lighter springs as i am only ever carrying a max of two people when 4x4ing. the guy at the shop reckoned the ride would be really harsh with the heavy duty springs unless you had an extra 100kgs or more in the back and would inhibit articulation offroad with no weight in the back.

well finally got off road to test out the new 2" OME Dakar setup (medium/light spring).
with 30x9.5 muddies on F100 15x7's with only some minor cutting on the sheet metal on the sides of the bumper and some bashing of sharp edges in the wheel arches the rig ran pretty well over dry rutted very rocky tracks in the Glenmaggie/Licola region.
Was maybe a little disappointed with the wheel articulation though. Although i'll pull the sway bar off and see how much difference it makes.
For the stuff I'll be doing it's gonna be fantastic. THe springs compress really well with one person in the car and i'm sure they'll perform a little better with two people in the car.but i was a little shocked with the bumpy ride compared to the brand spankin' troopy i drive at work on the same tracks! ah the pleasures of driving a zook... corners like a demon now

lose the sway bar, they restrict wheel travel and really don't improve the ride. A short wheel base car will always be out performed in the comfort/ride stakes by a long wheel base car. You'll have to get used to that. The Old man Emu stuff is not meant to be a flexy setup, they are more a better ride and load carrying suspension. However when modified with a few bit s and pieces they can flex very well. But remember flex is overated, that is why you get lockers

Before anyone says RUF or SPOA, he's a bolt-on bandit and is not interested in big mods at this stage, just something with a little more height and more comfort than stock springs. We've already done longer shocks and bump stop extensions for 30" tyres.
So, how are your Dakar springs holding up? Happy with them?

well i've had the dakars on the car for a while now and have spent about 4 solids days out in the bush around gembrook in them plus a fair amount of road driving.
with 30x9.5 muddies on the 15x7 rims i was clearing the same stuff as a lifted hilux on 32s and a guy at ARB in moorabbin said that with that setup it had as much clearance as a GQ on 36s although i think that may be an exageration.
Tracks such as sunset (chicken track at start), sisters, rocky creek, watsons, reids, andersons before bulldozing didn't pose any dillemas at all. The Zook has gone a whole lot further than i ever thought it could of in its current setup.
After an intial bedding in period the zook started flexing well but have noticed that the standard shocks are just too short, although i haven't actually done any measuring to confirm this.
The zook is awesome...at the moment i wouldn't change much except seriously look at getting longer travel shocks after confirming my suspicions about sag with and without the shocks in place. A diff lock would be nice as I found out on the weekend losing traction in a couple spots....although momentum is your friend in this case .
so far its holding up well....we'll see how it goes in the future. I've got some flexing pics around which i'll post soon....

What do people reckon to get when going RUF. Is it better to get the medium as the weight is up there? I have a arb bar and 4xspotties on front, std 1.3 and 31's.

It sounds like a good package so I shall pass the info on. Also, I run 36" Pedes on my GU so when he gets the springs, I'll do some comparison measurments and post up to see if the ARB dude was spinning sh!t or not.

I run the dakars on my zook. She's an 89 Wt with ruff and 30inch tyres. I have the heavy duty rears all round. I run the full pack on the back cos i have quite a few tools which i carry round all the time. In the front however i removed both the load springs. Off the road they flex up nicely and im extremely happy with them. And i run rubber bushes all round cos they flex up better and i think there more comfortable on the road to, although they do wear quicker.

Nic, I run the older model OME springs RUF, and I use the heavy pack. That is a four leaf pack, and I use this pack front and back. Don't know whether the Dakars have the same settings though.
I am happy, but YJ's in the rear sound like a nice setup. Or CJ fronts.

I'm not into measuring stuff, but I estimate at least 2 & 1/2 to 3", especially on the front end.
Shocks are very important, I would not recommend the OME shocks.
I use revolver shackles on all corners too. These make a SUA setup quite good off road, and on road I never notice them.
Oh, with the RUF, you may need castor shims to sort some pinion angle out. I use some 3* shims.

I got mine from the USofA while I was ordering some other stuff. They are alloy though, not the best. Steel is the best.
An Engineer should be able to knock up as many as you want for a few dollars.
Have a look on the websites for pictures of how they look, then take a copy to the Engineer with you.

i have OME 2x CSO38R on the rear and CSO12FA+B for the front.
i have OME013 shocks for the rear.
im looking to put some OME shocks for the front. will the OME027 suit the front.
OME027 have 497mm open 297mm closed. at the moment my springs are 470mm open and 300 closed.
what shocks have ppl used with the above springs.
