WARN Winch motors??

Post by Ruffy »

Is anybody able to tell me how you can tell what HP motor is on a high mount?
I know there are different sizes. I have an older 8274 which i suspect is probably a 2.5 hp but i don't really know?
Next question can you get the 6hp in key drive or only spline drive?
Cheers.

2.1 hp if key drive.

2.5hp generally if splined and unpainted winch.

4.6 if it is a painted winch.

6hp only comes as a splined unit but there is a pinnion gear available.

OK, help me out here. I have a line on a high mount that has no motor. What are my options? Does it matter if it is key or spline? I know nothing about these.

Cheers Lockee. I guess that makes it a 2.1hp. So you can buy just a pinion gear and the motor to make it 6hp?
I take it the gears are the same on the drive side the only diff is one has spline and one a keyway.
