Ok guys thinking about doing a ute chop on my 40

Thinking of something like this

But a different style of tray

What would be the best way to get around the seat belt issue, can i use just lap belts or do i need to retain the full over shoulder belts


What other problems can you guys point out that i may have not thought about

Will be keeping it hard top by the way too

if you use the proper ute cab there are seatbelt mounts in the panels

otherwise put a cage in get it engineered with the seatbelts attatched to the cage

and no lapsash belts wont pass

If you have non standard seats with a thicker backrest your seat may not go far enuff back with a ute roof

Im only 5'8" with short legs

Im not gonna use the ute roof/back because the cab will be squared off at the rear corners so im gonna do a full custom back panel

Any one know what engineers will require for the body being chopped down like that, no body mounts will be moved or modified

Make sure you take lots of pics, I am doing a extended ute roof at the moment but it needs to slide on and off over the rear rollbar legs and I have hit a wall

Anyone know if roll cages can be self built or do the have to be done by a pro

I know all the cams requirement on tube size and stuff

Looking at making a 4 point(i think) that mounts behind the seats and in the foot wells in the front

Will this be road legal?????

To increase foot room in the front you remove the W/screen locking black knobs and cut out the section of the dash they mount on, then you reverse
this piece and weld it back in . This allows the front hoop to be further forwards giving more foot room when climbing in and out.

There is a cut and shut 40 on Ebay at the moment, the seller might be able to help with info, reckons he spent $50 big ones on it.
