BJ40 disc conversion

Post by Barney7779 »

Ok guys been doing the search thing for about 2 hours and found lots of good info but not what i need

Looking to put disc's on the front of my 40

Have read somewhere that the 75 series front diff is identical to the 40 series diff but with disc brakes ........ is this true and can it just be swapped over and away i go, with the obvious M/C and booster change

Reason i am looking at doing it this way is because i have access to a complete front from a 75 series at the right price

Would the rear diff also be a direct swap with the 40 diff, thinking 4 wheel disc brakes would stop the little bastard like a like it hit a brick wall

I know i can use the 60 series swivel hubs but thinking that doing a complete swap with the 75 series gear would be less hassle

Cheers

I went through this same dilemma myself. In the end I just bought a later model 40 front end with disc brakes. 1 proportioning valve later and my truck stops like a champ!
It seemed alot easier than f*cking around with different components off different cruisers.
