GQ Grill - replacement headache

Post by challenger »

GQ Patrol front grill.

Easy to get off (just turn those little square plastic lugs to release), but IMPOSSIBLE to get back on.

How can you line up all the square lugs at the same time?? And even if you attach them to the grill first, there are so many that you will miss/lose/break more than a few.

My solution... (if anyone is interested)

Buy some white plastic square grommets (Repco, SuperCheap Auto or equivalent)- that fit nicely into the metal cutout.

Locate the grill into the two bottom lugs, and use a handfull of screws with washers to screw into the white plastic square grommets.

Five minutes - everything back together.

Hope this helps.

I had no problem putting mine back. Put all the clips into the grille first, then start at one end use a small screwdriver or other pushing device to point the clips into the holes.

Should be able to do it without having to remove the grill mate. Unsloder cable and pull back through grill--- I forgot to add, that i used a very small flat blade file and slightly enlarged the slots so that the cage nuts slotted in a bit easier. I used stainless 3/16 screws and washers. No rattles and easy to remove. Run antenna cables under the bottom of the grill and up the back of the bullbar post to antenna mount (ARB)

Look I agree! those nissan clips are a bloody joke. after ringing to ensure there was no TAFE accredited course I had to do before refitting the grill, I went back down stairs and finally nutted it out after much swearing.
I couldn't find anywhere zipties would secure neatly on mine so next time I will be ready with replacement aftermarket screws and clips. Thanks for the tip.

cheers fnq
