80's gearbox and clutch mods

Post by guzzla »

my 80's petty has 160k and since im going away for a while was thinking of getting the clutch done now so i dont have to deal with it in the middle of nowhere.

1) any ideas as to what would be the best replacement, factory, daikin, asbestos if i could find 1, other ?

2) while the box is out is it worth having it reco'd as such. what do they get reco'd on them and is there any mods worth doing for any type of gain without negative side effects

CHEERS,

NATHAN.

1) Daikin is the go. You wont find asbestos anymore, its been banned from sale.

2) If it aint broke dont fix it, just keep changing the oil.

Genuine clutch kit and change the oils,( only need to change to a different clutch if the power is upped ) the bearings are huge and have replaced them at more than twice those K's and have allways found them to be still in good condition. Have only pulled down 80 boxes with syncro issues but that wouldn't let you down on a trip just makes shifting notchy.

Wally.
THERES ONLY ONE SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBES AND THATS MORE and if you want more inchs stroke it !!!!!!!!!!!
