Hehehe... funny stuff!!! Just did oil change and spark plugs, leads and dizzy cap change and finally the bastard this idles!!! You wouldnt believe how much of a challenge that was! Anyways just wondering if there is a special service tool or a special size key to loosen off the nuts for the diffs and transmission

I use a 3/8 socket drive extension peice, a good quallity one with square ends. Is there a proper tool if so where do u get it from.

to replace with wider diffs... such as;Klappers wrote:Just a question though, why would you get rid of the diffs?? WT diffs with ARB air lockers at both ends???? Seems crazy to me
Hilux
60 Series

or GQ/GU.
suzi diffs do break pretty easily, even under suzis.
The outlay wouldnt be that much considering the sale price of the current WT with ARBS.
You would have to get those diffs cut down. You are not allowed in queensland to go wider than 50mm from factory! Regardless of what diff it is..Hoping that a light right foot will help in the axle department too.AnthonyP wrote:to replace with wider diffs... such as;Klappers wrote:Just a question though, why would you get rid of the diffs?? U can engineer the diff swap, then you can go 50mm over the standard for the diffs engineered under the rig.Klappers wrote:You would have to get those diffs cut down. I rang up queensland transport and spoke to their engineer and he said that you can go no more than 50mm wider from the original diffs that were fitted to the car in the first instance. Now we are talking about an SJ512 Zook that left the production line with narrow track diffs....fitting even WT diffs to these in queensland is pushing it (Without narrowing the diff)...So i do not see how you could get the HiLux etc engineered at all without cutting them down.. Anyways I digress. Finally got all the filler and drain plugs out of all the transmissions and diffs and changed all the oil and filters. Added another petrol filter just before the fuel pump on the G16A just for good measure. The stuff that came out of the diffs was YUK !!! Not to many metal flakes in the front diff but the rear diff was pretty bad !! Hopefully nothing to bad in there. Will post some photos of the front steering bars to show you all what i mean about the welding that has been done to them. Does anyone know if I could just get some billet steel ones made up?? These would probably have to be tested by queensland transport but would this be the better option?

Took her up to landcruiser two weeks ago and i must say that this is one capable truck! Only problem is that it pops a spring out on the passenger side rear. Bit of a problem but nothing some custom springs wont fix and certainly the last thing on my list to be done. As far as taking it up tracks and stuff awesome. Dual lockers certainly help as does the exceptional rubber (extreme trekker the centerpede)....took her up a hill climb near the back end of cruiser canyon near the camping ground there and she just walked her way up to the top.. Felt pretty good. Felt even better when a brand new GU 4.2T with 35" and beadlocks couldnt get up there. Mind you he liked the right foot. twin transfers are unreal and if anyone is thinking of doing it do it. In low low and 2500rpm in 5th gear I was doing 20km/h..NUTS the best thing about the car by far. So very happy so far, just got to wait and see what QT say

yeah that is something that had me spun out a little bit. I am not sure why though. I will investigate this further when i have time. Man brett did a good job of welding that bar on (sorry his old man welded it on). Still nothing the old 160mm grinder cant fix. Now all i need is to learn how to weld

Umm, I think I will go and see mr fulcrum and get them to measure me up and then get some custom king springs made in the rate that i want and need as well as being progressive. Which means that the progressive part of the spring will keep the spring captive. So what happens is that the coil max's out and then you have another, for example, 3 inch's of spring left to help keep it captive.AnthonyP wrote:hey lookin sweet d00d.... i am still gelous....
reguarding the springs poopin out, retain them front and rear, both upper and lower, you will appreciate the end result

this might work, but retaing the springs and having them being streched abit at full drooop gives a much better feel for the terrain and more even articulation and better stability .Klappers wrote:Umm, I think I will go and see mr fulcrum and get them to measure me up and then get some custom king springs made in the rate that i want and need as well as being progressive. Good ideaKlappers wrote:we will see...going to try and restrain them first....could limit articulation though
the soft springs will stretch quiet abit and with dual lockers lossing abit of articulation to gain abit more even flex and stability is not a problem
This rig is goin to cost you lots of money maybe you should cut your loses b4 its too late and sell it to me nice and cheap now
Ummm, no. Not yet anyway.AnthonyP wrote:Good ideaKlappers wrote:we will see...going to try and restrain them first....could limit articulation though
