hilux diff - one last question...

Post by NISMOgemini »

im about to do a hilux diff conversion into my gemini and wanna know if all the modles (80 througth mid 90's) are all basicly the same?? centers bearings axels (depending on length) etc interchangable???

or are the differances?? if so which would be the strongest item to pic? any advantages one may have over the other?? etc..
Cheers

The V6 diffs have a bit of extra webbing cast into the housing and have bigger bearings I think.
All use the same axles (apart from different length for IFS models).
Strength depends on ratio (as in all diffs) 4.1s are pretty strong.
You can also get cryo treated crownwheel and pinions from the US as well as Chromoly axles.

im pretty sure diesel diffs are stronger, because i did mine this week, changed diesel ratios to petrol in my 90 lux and the diesel bearings were different.

yes. the early 2WD hiluxes had desired diffs for fast cars. what engine you running? search on toymods.net and they will be able to tell you what model diff will suit your application. they are into 2WD toyotas.
