In the latest Fourwheeler there was a rundown of some of the cool new stuff available at SEMA. One that won best new product was the Thermo Cap
Basically a thermometer in the radiator cap. I reckon it's not a bad idea as my temp gauge in the Suzuki is, shal we say, less than accurate at the best of times and the rest of times it doesn't work at all. They come from Blue River Enterprises. Any one know anymore about them. I've tried Googling etc and haven't been able to find much info at all
Seeing as a typical water outlet feeds to the top of the radiator, and this is where most aftermarket temp switches are located. They could help to set up your thermo switch temperature..... Thats all
ISUZUROVER wrote:I assume the idea of them is to tell you the temperature of the water so that you don't open the cap and get a face full of boilling water and steam?
They would not give a very accurate indication of engine temp.
Why not just buy an infra-red thermometer instead???
Bingo, not as a primary guage but so you can see what is happening before you open the cap. As to why not buy an infra red thermometer, because these are less than $30USD
