how much for a 3.0 L engine

Post by croozer »

I am asking on behalf of my work mate. He has a 92 pajero with a 3L motor that is blowing a lot of smoke, he had someone quote him minimum of $4000 to rebuild i reckon you could pick up a decent 2nd hand one for a hell of a lot less. can someone give me and idea of $$ i would expect to pay for a second hand one or if anyone knows a good place to buy one from, preferably sunshine coast or brisbane.
cheers

you can buy the magna 3lt v6 its the same block and heads you just need to change all the bits over from your pajero v6 (they are the same 6g72)
its a bit of work but from wot i have heard the magna v6 is a lot cheaper then then pajero v6....maybe they think that you can afford to drive a 4wd you can afford a lot more for ya parts.........worth a look at any way

Mine was $3800 to rebuild but I got hidden goodies and a new block. Personally I would not go over $3000 for a standard replacement motor.

err no one mentioned valve stem seals, hence all the smoke no need for a rebuild most of the time right?
