What sort of time would a Century battery still be good if left without charging etc if left in the shed?

After say 8 mths if you charged it up and put it back in would it still be any good??

Charge it up and see, what have you got to loose?

Make sure you top it up with battery acid and stilled water.

As long as it hasn't been sitting on concrete they can last 2+ years on a shelf.

Yea just dont want to put it in, start car drive few 100 klms and it not start again!

Doubtful, but you never really know with batteries.

Charge it up slowly with a trickle charger if you can.

If you have a spare headlight floating around, you can charge it up, then run it down with the headlight. If the headlight kills it after a really short time, then it's not worth putting in the car. If it runs for hours, charge the battery up again and give it a go.

yea thats waht Im thinkin.

The thing is, this one has onlky been used for 200klms tops, when alternator died .. got me into Bendigo at the time..

Park on top of a BIG hill... About 60kh should see it bump start... Works on an XC falcon anyway...

problem is i bought it in some bumfuck town between mildura and bendigo.. thought you had to take it back to where you bought it from...

A Century Yuasa dealer will help you replace your battery. If it’s a warranty issue, they’ll replace your battery for free.

yep, I sell them. Any agent will be able to honour the warranty, but most would want to see proof of purchase. They will probably want to test it first though. If they are a big seller of Century they will probably not worry about the proof of purchase as the date of manufacture is on the terminal posts. Should be a number on one post and a letter on the other. The number is the year and the letter is the month. eg L 6 = 12/06. If they don't move alot of batteries they will insist on a docket as the Century Rep will ask to see it. If the battery was stufed and was in date I would just swap it for you but I am a little far away.

What sort of Bat is it? 4wd bats only have 12 months but car bats have 24 months.

thats a bit crappy of century to give only 12 months on 4wd batteries, all our 4x4 batterries with the rac have 24 months.

Yeah I agree. We don't sell many 4wd batteries for that reason. Even the passenger vehicle batteries are a little on the expensive side compared to whats on the market but they are regarded as one of the best by alot of people so I guess the name is what sells them.

That number Chimpboy posted should put you through to your closest dealer. If it is stuffed and they insist on seeing proof of purchase let me know and I'll see how I can help you. If its not stuffed then get them to charge it up for you and keep on keepin on.

i just got the batteries out of my surf after it had been sitting there for 5 months with engine out. They are just over 1 year old now and should have life left in them. I rang the guy who sold them to me (family friend who makes batteries) and he said to put it them on charge for at least a couple of days each (said they take a while cause the a 720cca and no maitenance) then if i still dont have a car charge them up once a month and they should be fine.
