hey all,
nice suggestion tx4000, but i dont have the tools to do it, nor do i have the cash to pay people to do it.

i will be parting the car out, unless someone wants to buy the whole thing and straighten it out like tx4000 is suggesting.

i have owned this car for nearly six years, it was my first car and i am very attached to it.
it was a great car to learn all the ins and outs of offroading in, but in reallity even if i did fix it, the old girl just wont do the distances i want it to, or the speeds. The limitations on where i can get to are just to great.

it was fun while it lasted but its now time to move onto bigger, better and meaner 4X4's.

the details will be in the forsale section soon.

cheers

Bad news about the hatsu, always sad to see them go down...

Don't know if you got my pm, Chris, but if you or anyone else want to put that thing back together, I've still got this thing sitting in the shed.
It's being used for parts, has no motor or driveline etc, but it has got a chassis!

Just an update on my little beast.

Thought you has gotten rid of me hadn't you ;)

Ok - so now I stripped everything out of the inside - and i mean everything - basically back to bare metal in the entire inside of the cab. I managed to get my hands on a few things for it:

Windscreen - turns out a mate of mine is a windscreen fitter - cheap windscreen thankyou very much in Machine Impact glass - woot - and it only took a small amount of time with a grinder and a hammer to make it fit - the top of the windscreen frame was bent in - so some minor panel beating was required.

My bros mates are all into their mini trucks - so i scored a set of hilux mirrors off of one of them who got some smaller more fashionable mirrors - score there!!

The VC seats - who said they were too big!! Ok, so they were - but I still made them fit - needed to relocate the seatbelt assembly, but that didn't take too much effort, and I managed to bolt the passenger seat in no probs.

Next weekend I will tackle the driver's seat - but I still think I am up for a new steering wheel as I feel I could be sitting a little high and rubbing my legs on 55" wheel it has standard (ok not 55" but might as well be)

Apart from that - got the indicator stalk working again - just needed some gentle persuasion, so no need to dummy wiring to switches to make the indicators work - woohoo!! all the lights now work except the drivers side headlight in low beam?? it works on high beam - but not low beam and if i changet the headlamps with the passenger side it works low beam and high beam - so i will need to find the wiring fault in that.

Spotlights that came with the car need to be rewired if they still work.

and FINALLY - got some paint organised for it!! woohoo - 4L of John Deere Green and some yellow and black (yellow fo the wheels and black for the roo bar / roll cage bars) to make it look like a true john deere tractor :D but before i paint it there is a small amount of rust to look into - but that shouldn't be too hard. So hopefully come Easter long weekend it should be ready to paint and I can get back to driving it again :D

as some of you may be aware when i bought it - the starter motor was dying - so i got a new one for $60!!! bargain :D

anyways - once it is all done I will update you all again with more photos / details!

Take care and happy 4WD'ing!!

Ahh no probs runnin' yep supercheap is good ! :) no its not too dark to me, tho I am used to dark tint.. my last 4 cars had darker than "spec" tint and I have no probs seeing either side in dark. That and the fact I rarely drive at night :)

Cheers.

Ok - slight update - she is now a different colour ;)

I just finished spraying the body today - John Deere Green :D

I still gotta paint the roo bar black, and bolt all the bits and pieces back in - but here is a teaser with all the rust cut out, bogged up, and sprayed :D

Ok, another update, i will try and keep this thread alive ;)

Things that are now back in the car:

headlights
grill
RVM
side mirrors
sun visor passenger side (driver side doesn't exist)
windscreen wipers
windscreen wiper motors
indicators
steel plates for roll bar

things to go on this weekend:
roll bar
seats
seatbelts
rear doors
spare wheel holder

things to do but probably won't get a chance this weekend:
re-wire RHS headlight to work on low beam (might just slave off the LHS)
re-wire entire rear bar light assembly - purchase trailor lights for $9 a side, and a rear number plate light for $6.50) so need to make the rear bar again, and wire up the lights to get the indicators / brakes / tail lights / reverse light working

then i am back to driving it and i can't wait to take it to the dunes!!

Also gotta work on the indicators a little more - the stalk still isn't 100% - doesn't always work when indicating right - indicating left is perfect though :D

Will post more pics when i get updated ones :D

Car is John Deere Green and gloss black metallic items (roll bars / spare wheel carrier etc) and I have some john deere yellow to do the wheels!! when i get a chance that is .... not high on my list of things to do just yet.
