If you adjust a pump without the boost compensator...It will either go well on boost (at a certain psi) or off boost...
If you put more fuel in, off boost it would be over-fuelling, while on boost it might be the right mixture (at a certain boost level).. The compensator increases the fuel according to the pressure being supplied from the turbo.. whether it being none or up to 11-12psi
I would recommend having a look to find a pump with the compensator on it to save mixture problems.. as diesels are very touchy when it comes to fueling and running rich or lean.. causing EGTs to be wrong

Remember that diesels are the opposite of pertol, then overheat when run rich, not like petrol that overheat when run lean. Better off getting a boost compensator, that way your EGT will stay good through the whole rev/load range on your motor, both on and off boost.

thanks heaps been lookin for another pump found one off a late model
but it was gear driven (mines belt) bit of a worry dont think that there were many early model (88/to when ever they change to gear drive ) so
i might have to see about after market pumps.
the early model deisel engines eg DL50 & DL50t where gear driven, the later engines eg DL51 & on belt driven. Because in these timing belt engines they moved the oil pump up to the front of the engines.
