NON WINCH BAR TO WINCH - RR

Post by Loanrangie »

I have recently picked up a 8000lb ramsey winch and want to fit it into my ARB non winch bar, how should i brace it to take the extra load ?
I was thinking of 6-8mm steel running from chassis mount along the rear of the bar and to chassis mount on other side like a big C section - mounts will be on the vertical plane sandwiching the new steel brace and the bar together with rated eyelets inline with the mounts ? I dont want to make a custom bar.

I just fitted one last night, should of taken some pics. instead of stuffing so much with the bar i just use a section of 8mm plate from rail to rail then 2 bits welded on to the plate so they sit on the inside of the rails, drill holes to bolt winch down and holes for 3 off 1/2" grade 8 bolts each side, cut hole in bar for fairlead and your away.

Cool, i was thinking if i could get away with something similar instead of almost making a new bar. Did you have to cut much out of the top for clearance ? any pics would be helpful.

Cut the bracket holding in the AC condensor didn't have to cut any from the top of the bar, i'll have to see if the bloke i made it for can e-mail me some piccies, and a small hole out of the grill to engage the winch
