Yeh, Alien I think what you may be after is "Pearl" paint, looks green then changes to purple etc as the ride goes past. There is a company calles "Productsthatwork" (All one word) that stocks some pretty evil finishes includung "Eclipse" paint that changes colour as temp changes and "Xposures" that does the same. I found an ad in Dec 05 Street Machine. I collected thse B4 I discovered MUD.

Sam Keck from Overkill has them locally.Shamus wrote:The bushwhacker flares were originally for jeeps and zook owners had to get 2 sets of jeep ones to make 1 set for their rig. I'm pretty sure demand has meant that Zook owners can now just buy sets tailored for them. Not sure about an Australian distributor but google will have the answer.

I recently inquired about getting a set of trail Tough flares sent over and here is the email I got back...
"Shipping charges alone for the flares to Australia are about $410.00. (More than the flares cost alone!) They are not heavy, but they are large and shipping charges on these goes by dimension rather than weight. I would recommend calling either Sean Lee at ABT 4x4 in CCT Chisholm 61262915994 or Sam Keck at Overkill Engineering in Hornsby Sydney 0294766137. They are both dealers for us over there and maybe they can help you get some flares more economically. However, I am happy to send them direct to you if you are willing to pay $715.00 total for them!" (thats USD$$, so not F*ing likely)
I might get Aeroz flares or save up some more $'s and get a set of Trail Toughs through either Sam or Sean (both nice guys much nicer than the lady at TT)
Yep That was my original plan because I do like the factory flares with the flexi add ons... its just I'm maiming my guards at the moment & cutting out rust, so not sure if my metal flare will cover the new arches. Its a wait & see thing at the momentalien wrote:if your tyres aint sticking out more than 2" from the flares, there 50mm and 75mm flexi flare you can buy at Clark Rubber... its $7 or so per metre... and you just tex screw it under the flare =)
No, I am pretty sure what Alien is talking about is Harlequin. Harlequin is almost like a petrol spill look, green, black, purple. It is very hard to do a decent job, and will require about 9 - 12 varying coats to get a good finish.Yeh, Alien I think what you may be after is "Pearl" paint, looks green then changes to purple etc as the ride goes past.
Pearl does not change colour, as such, it can be done in any colour and is more refering to the way the paint reflects, as a 'pearl' would.
And yeah Camo is old, apart from being partial to Gutless' Arctic Cammozook, I reckon its a pretty ordinary image.
The occasional job is pulled off well, like HUNT'N, but everyone get different.

From that email it seems that the lady from TT was actually very nice and helpful. Just because you didn't like what she had to tell you doesn't make her not nice. That is the problem that alot of people have these days, just because the info someone tells them isn't what they want to hear they think the person is a tosser or not niceSuzuki Surf Chik wrote:Thats bollocks these days!mike wrote:If your prepared to import yourself you'll save some serious $$$

Yes the first response was FINE I didn't want to mention the following emails after I queried the freight (having seen a quote on here for $85 a while back) She explained USPS changed to dimensional weight = large jump in shipping, which was fine Australia Post do that to me too. So I asked if Fedex was an option since I had an account with them. She seemed a bit blunt from then onwards in regards to alternate methods of shipping and said I had no other option... and then was using capitals a LOT that seemed a bit rude to me - one of my emails to her came back undelivered so I wrote another one then she seemed to be more annoyed at me than helpful !!!....... blah blah blah end of story.grimbo wrote:From that email it seems that the lady from TT was actually very nice and helpful. I imported mine less than 12 months ago for around $520AUD landed at my front door last I checked they were $800 + shipping through Sam
I too think Sam is a good guy and have bought stuff through him but the difference on the bushwackers was just to big

I quote the lady at Trail Tough (21/02/2006)..... " .........Well when you talk to Sam you can ask him about it - he and I went through it....the flares used to be able to be shipped USPS for about $85.00 per set. Then they CHANGED the girth limitations to Australia from the USA and now they are too BIG to go postal service"mike wrote:Bollocks to your bollocks!

Consider yourself lucky to have landed yourself a reasonably priced set of flares that look cool Obviously you got them before the "change"
I also asked her how the flares attached to a zook and was told to look at photos on their site. She didn't really answer my question. So, Mike... How & where abouts do you attach these flares and what did you use to attach them with? This would be very helpful to me right now in deciding whether I want them or not!
PS, got pics?
Haven't put them on yet but they basically just tec screw to the body, so on a flat sided vehicle like a zook so you can pretty much put them where you like.
I intend to dummy fit them up, mark out and cut wheel arches to suit.

Just as a matter of interest check out the USPS (United States Postal Service) official website.

Excellent... I thought that would be the casemike wrote: on a flat sided vehicle like a zook so you can pretty much put them where you like.
On the shipping case, I was told the dimensions of the box were as follows:
21x44x10 (i presume inches) So, 44" being length and 21" x 10" (x2) for girth should come under 79" limit (should be 62" girth)
I did visit the USPS site last week but didn't follow up with dimensions. I will look into it again.
Thanks heaps for the info & pics.
And yeah, I like the camo paint but it would clash with all my camo shorts LOL
EDIT; Mike, just read your edit. DOH! stupid USPS...... back to other options
Not sure I've seen Frozza flares on a sierra before... Did they look a bit more square? I can't remember what they look like...munecito wrote:I saw somewhere a sierra fitted with Feroza flares. Could that be an option??
We should start a new topic about flares.
