80 series Radiator mod to suit 2" body kit

Post by markl »

I have a 2" body lift in my 80 series and i have blown the radiator that was in the car when i bought it, my mechanic cant seen to work out how it was modified or how to modify a genuine replacement.

The 2 brackets at the bottom of the rad were replaced with new ones i made that were dropped the same amount as the body lift amount and the top i modded some 75 series top rubber mounts that are similar to the 80 top mount but lended them selves to the drop mount better.

just done this ,but the cheaper way for now.

i chopped the bottom of the rad shroud out ,bottom hose fitted, chopped the top hose in half and inserted a pipe between the 2.

before i get fried... i will be dropping it down soonish..

i think i'd prefer your method as it would avoid some mud, and be in line with the cutout of the car & grill if you get what i mean.

only thing i dont like the fan being out of sync with the radiator area and shroud.. but if you mod the shroud position a little lower maybe???
