I am unsure if you can buy the factory style mounts. I made my own lower shock mounts after one of the factory ones broke. I simply used some flat bar and bent it to shape in a vise using a hammer and heating it up with the oxy. Then drilled a hole in it , welded it to the axle housing and used a bolt through the shock and mount. It has worked fine.

how is the shock bolt fastened to that mount? can we just have it lose and have the nut hold it in or what?

the bolt goes through the steel mount, through the shock bushing and out the other side of the steel mount. I used a nylock nut to stop it loosening.

yes but you don't have to fasten the bolt to the mount or is it still acceptable loose?

It is acceptable like that

That is exactly the samee as a factory hilux lower shock mount

The bolt does NOT have to be welded to the mount because the bolt goes through both sides of the mount and is secured by the nut on the other side

Just to be clear here, are you referring to the mount for the front or the rear shocks? Rear is part of the U bolt plate - readily available from a wrecker. Front is a plate welded to the diff housing with a fixed (welded) bolt that the shock eye slides onto and is retained by a nut and a split pin. If its a front one then I can't see you buying a replacement, you will most likely have to make one like they have said above, it will look different to the other side but it will probably be more sturdy than the factory style setup. Remember though, measure twice and cut/weld once! If you make the sides of the mount too wide apart then the shock will flog around and destroy the bush. Remember to use a bolt that fits nice and snug in the bush too.

Best of luck.
