So basically if you would prefer a single vehicle event nows the time speak up like others are doing.

We also spoke about the timing of the event and the fact that some clubs/competitors already have commitments on the Queen's Birthday weekend (On Track and Vic All Terrain are 2 clubs who are heavily involved in events with large numbers and have commitments already).

If it were to be held on another weekend it would mean that it would go back to the old format of a 24 hour event (All day Saturday and through the night to Sunday morning).

So once again it's up to those who want to do the event to speak up and if the event style can be changed then the majority will decide.

Please reply by quoting this post and add your vote to the relevent list and let the numbers decide ;)

Which ever way it goes they need to make a decision and make it fast. You really don't want to be dicking people around cos they'll lose interest.

I will speak with Hobbzee but we already have more than 10 committed entries into this event.

We must speak with them first before we make any decisions.

Two Car teams

Post by Smithy jnr »

For my 2 cents worth I'd prefer to see the Pursuit stay with two car teams, it's good fun chasing each other through the bush. Where is the 'pursuit' if you can't chase your team mate?

I`m not going to quote and add my name as I don`t care if its single car or 2 car teams.

As for the weekend the long weekend suits me better since I live so far away from where it will be held (6 to 7 hours) and the monday being a public holiday makes it so much easier for me. But in saying that I can understand moving it to a different weekend because of the number of people that would missout because of other allready made commitments.

So even thow it doesn`t suit me as good I say change the weekend.

Oh and I am one of the 10 ;) so you can take this post as my reply email hobzee. :D

One down side to Queens Birthday weekend is that area is chockers full of other users that will interfer with the Pursuit and we dont need to tempt fait with head on's with other 4b's or bikes, secondly its a weekend most of us go away as its last trip before seasonal closures.

My bit more.

Update..

Post by Hobzee »

Hey Gang, I love it when we get feedback. Means we can build a really great event you guys want .. afterall, isn't that what it's all about?

OK OK OK teams of 2 already! I like the idea of 2 as it's good to have a buddy on most of those tracks. I'm working on some mean mother tracks and can't have recovery crews every where. I'm happier if you all have a buddy to keep an eye on you. In the past there is always a number of people who say they can't find a 2nd vehicle and don't enter. When you enter, send two entries together if you have an old entry form. If you have already entered, Rudi will get in touch with you to see if you are still inyterested, see if you can get a second vehicle and a refund will go to those who have entered but want teams of 1. (Note we already have 15 cars.) If you want to enter but can't find a buddy, enter anyway in single form and we will mutually match you with a rig of similar standard ourselves. So it's settled then? Teams of 2... ;)

As for the weekend, the new format really needs to be on a longer weeknd with a late Sunday evening finish. I'm not worried about the presentation being on the Monday (It could be at a pub a week later). But it's not only you lot who would have to drive home late Sunday evening but also our helpers, caterers, marshalls ... and tow truck drivers. (Hey, I got a lift home in a tow truck from the Paj ..) Also, we already have about 500 entry forms out there and the 4wd magazines have already been told the dates, etc. And besides we have the Queen's blessing .... to use the tracks that weekend, that is. We also have 2 rigs coming from Tas, 1 from SA and 1 from NSW at this early stage. It makes it possible for the interstaters if it's over a long weekend too.

I agree there will be broken hearts over the weekend choice this year and we will be down on numbers from Vic All Terrain and On Track Clubs due to their big trips. I am very sorry about that and I have been trying to come up with the perfect answer. If I try to make everyone happy I am going to fail.

Let's see how the new format works and decide upon next year's dates with a bit of help from everyone before it's set next year.

As for tracks, yes we have some awesome stuff in mind.

I am going to break you up into smaller groups as well and have you start out from different points. Remember the shot gun start we had in #2 Pursuit? This keeps congestion way down and minimises traffic jams, etc.

For old time sake wouldn't it be great to have a team of Smiths, Angry Man and Benny, Fenner and Hummer, Wally and Booker, etc etc. What ever happened to Team Buthead??? I will give a free CV joint (for any rig, courtesy of the4wdshop - ebay) to the person who gets Ron Hall's name on an entry form.

Thanks for your input, keep the feedback rolling in.

Oh if Ron competes I may have to organise spectating or talk to you about assisting with Marshalling. That team always make me laugh. Ateco/OBC I dont think are the same without Ron and Russl.

It's a little disappointing to see you are still running the event on the long weekend knowing that 2 Clubs who have largly supporting the event over the life of the pursuit aready have commitments and that you asked the people what the prefered date to run the event and have all responded with a Normal Weekend.

I know this might stir things up a bit, but have a harder think about it. It would be good to keep the same format the event has always been, you remember the early days at O'Tooles, start in the arvo Saturday, finish Sunday morning, like a big night drive, 'Midnight Pursuit'.
