GQ radiators
Gday lads,
I have been told that a certian GQ came out with an aluminium cored radiator, is this true?
And if so does anyone know the part number for this?
Thanks

'na but he would know.turps wrote:Not really a factory GQ rad though is it. And I would hate to know what the RRP would be. But yes if he was doing them for retail I would be interested to hear a price.bogged wrote:PM Awill4x4...
Why this dude is looking at a Genuine Nissan one anyway is beyond me, you could get a custom Andrew one, Intercooler and turbo for the price of a Genuine Nissan one probably....
The reason bogged is, that thru discussion with a few people running the same mods as I am- it seems bigger (58mm) radiators lose air flow through the core- due to the thickness although they do take a bit longer to get hot they do take alot longer to cool down. Were as a standard cored radiator get more air through the core. Trent Leen is running a standard GQ radiator because of this.bogged wrote:'na but he would know.turps wrote:Not really a factory GQ rad though is it. And I would hate to know what the RRP would be. But I'm open to all opinions and feed back.
Thanks Daniels
I have the alum one in my 96 from genuine, I cannot get this engine to run hot! not even enough to properly pressurise the hoses, got it pressure tested because it worried me and all is good. Shows how well the standard design can run when doing it as designed on the diesels.

*JUST LUV IT* 96 GQ LWB TD4.2, Cav, Kings, Dobinsons, Motorguard, Enginesaver, 400 pro, Cooper ST's (rolls eyes), fleetguard oil filters, Delo 400 engine oil, Delo ESI gearbox oil and an RTC.
Thanks for that fnqcairns, it sounds like its running really well.fnqcairns wrote:I have the alum one in my 96 from genuine, I cannot get this engine to run hot! not even enough to properly pressurise the hoses, got it pressure tested because it worried me and all is good. When I put a 2003 td42T intercooled motor in my ute the standard rad (AL and plastic) it was not up to the job. Replaced it with a full Al rad from PWR that is 58mm wide but still only has two cores. When I am coming off full noise I can see the temp gauge fall back down.DanielS wrote:The reason bogged is, that thru discussion with a few people running the same mods as I am- it seems bigger (58mm) radiators lose air flow through the core- due to the thickness although they do take a bit longer to get hot they do take alot longer to cool down. When I first put it in I set up a circuit in the dunes and flogged around for about half hour full noise. Stopped and drove about 500m back to the road and temp gauge was back to normal by the time I got to the road
