I am doing that now, again. what i forgot to Say is that i also fitted a cav filter and bypassed the nissan filter.I did not realize that it had a wire coming out the bottom. I have just rehooked it up(the nissan filter) to see if it makes a difference.

sorted it out,(feel heaps better now).I had to drive up to Renmark today so left about 6am. started the GU and the sub tank and water light came on again and stayed on. I thought i would sort it out on the weekend. Any way because it was dark (didn't no the sun came up so late these days) I could sea a very faint battery light on,what i had done was hooked up the relay for the pump to the switch light on the alt. so the pump came on only when the engine was going. the purge tank hold about 1.5 Lt's so the engine will run for a while with no pump.Anyway i pulled over and disconnected earth on relay and sub tank and water light went out. I smiled all the way to Renmark and back today.
