jammed gearbox
i've got a 1l suzuki ute it's the maruti import with a 4 speed box box was damaged but has been welded up but its now jammed in reverse any suggestions pls
It can jam two ways so i don't know exactly your problem.
If you can still select other gears, as in the box is always in reverse but if you select a forward gear then you'd be in two gears and it locks up, the there is the possibility that the reverse lever in the box or the fork that operates the lever is worn and they have seperated.
If the shifter is stuck in the reverse position it is more likely to be in the selector rods that slide when you move the shifter.
If you do get it out of reverse with out finding the fix then there is a good, very good, chance it will reoccur some time. bite the bullet and whip it out and do it properly or may may find yourself reversing home from a wheelin' week end sometime.
Good luck.
