LARGE transmission cooler
When i do the engine transfer on the patrol..... i'm de-gassing the aircon and turning it into endless air...... small compressors take too damn long to inflate 35" tyres.
I was thinking about maybe using the aircon condensor as a trans cooler.... nice big area to keep the oil cool...... but would the air coming through the oil cooler heat the radiator too much?

I don't think you will have a problem, Your radiator is taking the trans heat away now, so can cope with the heat. All you are doing is moving this heat sorce from internal to external. I dont think your radiator will run any hotter as you are not adding an extra heat sorce. (other than the more eficient removal of transmission oil heat)

RoeDao, what your proposing is fine, the guy next door to me at work did exactly the same thing in a Commodore street/strip car when he had endless trans overheating problems. On my GQ auto I've deleted the radiator coolers entirely and now have 2 front mount coolers in series with the 2nd one mounted behind the air con fan. I've still got to hard wire the fan to switch it on manually but last week we had one day of 38 degrees and in highway driving with the torque convertor locked up my trans temps were 50-55 degrees C. Before that, using the rad coolers and 1 front mount it would be more like 65 C. I have had some mods by Rodney at Wholesale Auto's though so my auto runs pretty cool.

some say it works ok.... others say it will do no good....... i tend to lean towards those that have done it and had no problems...... i guess if it trashes the auto..... it will grease the wheels with the Minister for Finance to get a TH700

The only problem then RoeDao is you have to get another adaptor to go from T700 to Nissan transfer case.
I'd give either Rodney at Wholesale Auto's http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/
or Paul at Keas http://www.keas.com.au/ a ring and ask their opinions. They're both highly regarded when it comes to Nissan auto's.

i looked into the adaptor for the TH700..... it's the same price as the V8 to Nissan auto adaptor.... so if i lose one, i still pay the same price for the other..... i don't have a TH700 (wish list item) but i suppose later in life when i raise the funds to buy one, I can flog off the engine adaptor. It's only money
I have been assured by a couple of people that the Nissan auto, with the right cooling is more than capable of taking a stock 5.0 litre V8. Time will tell.

You're right there RoeDao, if you check out Pauls "keas" site all you'll find in the customer section all his drag racing cars are Jatco's (Nissan) Powerglides or C9 Fords. Paul at Keas is a very interesting guy to talk to, when my GQ 4 speed auto blew up and I had it fixed I met him some time later and I was telling him "what a pity there's no adaptor to fit a T700 behind a Nissan motor" and he basically told me "don't be f#####g stupid". He's full of praise about the Nissan auto's they just need some tender loving care to get the most out em. The most important part is keeping them cool and I've got that part right now.

with modifications done to it
i got told it would be ok as it was rebuilt about 10 000 km's before the conversion about 3 months after the conversion the auto needed another rebuild and a extreme valve body fitted along with other cooling mods
